Select a word for lexical and morphological help. Qere markers are source annotations; they never silently replace the Ketiv text.

Study Biblical Hebrew Word by Word

Click or tap a Hebrew word to open its study information. Depending on the available source data, you may see its lemma, learner gloss, part of speech, morphology, verb stem, verbal form, person, gender, number, state, lexical references, frequency, and Qere/Ketiv information.

Raw database codes are not intended to be the main learning experience. Morphology is presented in clearer forms such as Qal perfect, third person masculine singular, while source details remain available for deeper study.

Learn Vocabulary in Context

Vocabulary is easier to remember when encountered repeatedly in actual biblical passages. Use the chapter vocabulary tools to identify common and uncommon words before reading.

You can filter vocabulary by frequency, mark words you already know, and concentrate on unfamiliar words. Your known-word progress is stored locally in your browser rather than being sent to the website.

Practice Hebrew Parsing

Use the parsing exercises to practice identifying grammatical forms found in the selected biblical chapter. Immediate feedback helps you recognize Hebrew verb stems and verbal forms while the actual biblical context remains close at hand.

A useful study method is to identify the form yourself first, check your answer, and then return to the verse and consider how the form functions in context.

Qere, Ketiv, Vowels and Cantillation

The reader preserves important features of the Masoretic Hebrew text. Where the source securely identifies a Qere/Ketiv reading, the written and read forms remain distinguishable rather than being silently combined.

Vowel points and cantillation marks are also preserved, with display options that allow you to simplify the text as your reading ability develops.

Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Aramaic

The Hebrew Bible contains both Biblical Hebrew and Biblical Aramaic. Where the corpus securely identifies the language, the reader distinguishes them rather than treating Aramaic as merely another form of Hebrew.

This provides a foundation for increasingly specialized Biblical Aramaic vocabulary and grammar tools as the application develops.

Learn to Read Hebrew More Independently

The goal of Biblical Hebrew Study is not simply to provide instant answers. It is to help you depend less on them over time.

Read the Hebrew first, identify what you can, inspect unfamiliar forms only when necessary, review important vocabulary, and then reread the passage. Repeated exposure to real biblical Hebrew gradually strengthens vocabulary recognition, morphological awareness, and reading fluency.

Use this interactive reader together with the Biblical Hebrew lessons and learning resources on BiblicalHebrew.org as you progress from individual words toward confident reading of complete biblical passages.
